One invocation. No partners.
When we ask “what binds a Muslim?”—the answer must come from Allah alone. Not from scholars. Not from consensus. Not from tradition. Not from linguistic prestige. Not from historical reconstructions. Not from computational models. Not from us.
These tools may help us understand. They never bind.
The moment any human source—however brilliant, however ancient, however widely accepted—occupies the slot of binding authority, it becomes a partner. And we do not associate anyone with Him.
What this means for the Quran Stack project:
We call upon Allah — The Qur’an is our sole source of binding guidance.
We do not associate — No hadith, no scholar, no method, no institution, no tradition shares that authority. They inform. They never bind.
We stay accountable — Every claim we make is tested against this root. If we ever slip into speaking for Allah without clear warrant, this verse corrects us.
This is not a rejection of tradition or scholarship. It is a refusal to worship it.
We read. We reason. We consult. We learn from those who came before.
Then we return here—to the Root—and ask: Is this from Allah, or from us?
If it’s from Allah, it binds. If it’s from us, it’s offered humbly and held loosely.
